Liam Cicek – Art Director

ART DIRECTOR BASED IN PARIS

I’ve always been drawn to worlds that don’t quite exist, the mystical, the fantastical, the slightly otherworldly. My work lives at that crossroads, where storytelling becomes a form of escape. I love building ecosystems that pull you elsewhere : atmospheres you can almost step into, images that feel like portals. Creation, for me, is a way of opening doors: to other places, other selves, other possibilities.

What I Am Drawn To

There’s something I keep chasing in every project : the feeling of slipping elsewhere. I’m pulled toward esotericism, reverie, rituals, the kind of stories that live between the visible and the sensed. Building worlds feels like the most natural way to inhabit my own. When I’m not directing, I paint, illustrate, and bake. Three very different languages, all rooted in the same pleasure : transforming matter, pigment, pixel, flour, into something alive.

Worlds I Return To

Metroid Prime — for the loneliness of exploration, the alien architecture, the silence. Fatal Frame — for the way horror becomes ritual. Resident Evil — for the dread that lives in empty rooms. Bayonetta — for its baroque chaos and unapologetic excess. Final Fantasy — for the mythology, the crystals, the worlds that feel older than they are. Black Swan — for the vertigo of beauty tipping into something darker. Sucker Punch — for the worlds within worlds, and the power of escape as survival. The old Barbie movies — unironically. For the earnestness, the glitter, the dreamscapes built without shame.

If I Were...

An animal: a dragon. A season: autumn. Scorpio, after all, death and rebirth. A place, ruins on an endless lake. A time of day: dusk. A color: deep blue. A flower: a thorn covered rose. A sound: a detuned pipe organ.
